Compliments and Cutdowns

So I'm getting ready to leave work for the day when the 'old-timer' walks up to me. (He's about 75 years old). This was the exchange...

"Looks like you've lost some weight." he says.
"Yeah, I've lost about 20lbs. since the beginning of the year."
"Yessir, its really noticable."
"Well thanks, I've been working hard."
"Just think, another 20 pounds and you'll be in shape."
"...."

Yes that's right, a compliment from the old guy and then he sweeps the rug from under me.

Sigh.

2.5 weeks till graduation!
Till next time.

Classic! I'm trying to figure out the age that people get to where words fly out of their mouths with no regard to feelings. I'm pretty sure it's close to 55 but my research is still ongoing...
